Cats are obligate carnivores with a unique evolutionary flaw: they cannot synthesize L-Taurine, a critical amino acid, from other protein building blocks. They must consume it directly from fresh meat. Taurine is the absolute master regulator of calcium flow inside the heart muscle (myocardium).
